The idle consumption rate for this tablet is 1.9 watts, which is a relatively high rate when compared to similar devices. I can barely run any apps without it being plugged in. I have the smaller Galaxy Tablet which worked well for 4 months but then the battery life just dropped over night. I have performed a soft reset but it keeps the same way. I haven't changed any settings and I uninstalled any apps that have been recently installed.

The device is updated, so much so that when I try to manually update it, it says there's no new updates. I hadnt used my kindle for a while (however I never forgot to charge it when it reached 20%, because I was always taking care of it) and I can't remember if that was normal to happen. I'm reading for about an hour nonstop and I find it going down about 5%.

The issue seems to stem from the most recent Google app update and reports also include Android Intelligence Systems. However, after my last charge, it has dropped quicker than usual. Users have reported overheating problems on the Pixel 6 Pro, 7 Pro, and others. Talk to tech support for a replacement if its still. So, my kindle 8th generation is less than a year old, and it's battery used to take a long time before dropping down to 20% (which is when I charge it). Can mean the battery isnt communicating its status to the tablet-failing battery, bad connection, etc.
